I think the sentimentality in the dialogue between Oliver and Elio is just brilliant but I also feel as though I am either too young or immature or even too inexperienced to fully grasp the book’s dialogue and inner monologue. it’s narration style is so refreshing yet mind provoking and i can not fully comprehend it in my opinion >.<

i just read the part after they have sex for the first time and it honestly perplexed me. i vaguely had the feeling of elio feeling regret and overwhelm and self-loathing due to the fact that he realizes his sexuality but at the same time wasn’t sure until i read other people’s opinions and realized my interpretation was correct to some extent.
