As we learn these shifts of attitude, we also acquire the wisdom of loving as Jesus loved - agapê - without being held back by our feelings or by concern for what we shall get for our trouble. We discover that God fills us to the extent that we let go of ourselves and give ourselves in this kind of love. As the saying goes, God cannot fill what is already filled with itself.
