Really remarkable book on the history of the Israel-Palestine conflict, with very thorough analyses from Avi Shlaim. The texts were written through time, and the more meta-interesting aspect of it is unquestionably how Shlaim's own perspective becomes more critical of Israel while also becoming more attuned with the Palestinian struggle, particularly with Arafat/PLO

Not quite what I was expecting, mostly Avi Shlaim's appreciation of books and opinions on them. It's a surprisingly good way of learning a lot about many different things. Shlaim is a talented writer and great at delivering complex topics, and offers a very pondered and "moderate" voice on the Palestine-Israel conflict (which implies, naturally, heavy criticism of Israel); do not expect biased takes for either side
