finished chapter 4 -- very interesting points about how the more esoteric science is, the more exoteric it's supporters need to be.

for a scientist to work isolated in a lab, there must be someone working tirelessly to get funding, legislation, and many other external factors to go the way of the laboratory.

to understand science as a practice, it is myopic to only look at "scientists", many others are involved.
