You can tell this was written by an American who didn't do their research when she says that the characters travel "a block or two"... through Victorian London. I'm now picturing the setting as modern Chicago or Manhatten rather than the winding, noodling, unplanned labyrinth of Oliver Twist and Sherlock Holmes.
