Chapters 4-8 the inquisitor subjects Jace to one night in a cell in the silent city as a punishment for his attitude. While he is there, the silent brothers are murdered and his father, Valentine, appears, steals the sword that reveals if someone is lying, and talks to Jace. Clary, Isabelle, Alec, and Simon save Jace. Clary, Isabelle, Simon, and Jace go to the Seelie court where Jace and Clary kiss
