Well considering that this is set in 1600s, discrimination against women is kinda expected I guess. The pit into which Samson and Edward fell sounds like some sort of magical hub. I have more questions than answers atm and the story hasn't progressed far enough to let me judge it adequately yet. I am curious to see if those wards that Abitha sells are real or just a way to earn bread for her

This was a difficult read to say the least. There were a few moments I truly liked especially when Abitha frees herself from the cage and goes after those who tormented her for revenge. The way she says Abitha is dead, I am the witch - it was enough to give me goosebumps. But then all the other elements of devilry, so much of a religious theme and the overall plot with "Father" devil did not do much for me

Can't say I am surprised that Abitha is being prosecuted as a witch, I mean what else did she expect would happen when everyone started wondering how come she was able to procure the corn or the honey. The men in this book are horrible except for Revered Carter tbh, and I feel bad that his family was caught in the crossfire. With respect to the Father and wildfolk I am still confused who is right and who is wrong

This is getting weirder by the minute ngl and I don't know if I even have it in me to reach the end if this strange exchange continues between Samson and Abitha.I also find it a bit difficult to swallow that Abitha has not mentioned Edward once since his death apart from that one time she was overwhelmed by all the work she needed to do alone now.Wallace is getting desperate & I'm afraid it would not end well for him

Well can't say I am loving this monster/satan character - naming it the Father is just so tacky - just as much as Forest, Sky and Creek probably. I rarely end up loving these kinds of books and this one has been a struggle so far too, I'll maybe finish it just for the sake of it but the plot is definitely not my favourite and I am getting uncomfortable with how Abitha has started bargaining with the monster
