I mean… I read a bunch of manga volumes. It’s all reading, right? It’s a reading challenge. It’s all good! Happy reading!! 🥰
You sound like me 🤣 no but novellas are the saving grace of reading slumps and attaining our reading goals lol I hope you enjoyed it 🩷
sabrina - i liked it! it was cute! but fr they really are. 😂 i’ll be so many books behind and use them to help because i don’t wanna change my goal.
Oh novellas! I don't care at all about the reading challenge and yeah a book is a book doesn't matter, it all counts, novella, full length, audiobook, fanfic if it's loaded into Goodreads, whatever. But personally I fight so hard with novellas. I keep getting drawn into them because there's a lot that are great premises, by authors I enjoy, or well reviewed. But I'm a person that needs to be able to sink my teeth into something and have a journey of developing the story. And novellas just can't do it for me. Sometimes I come across the odd novella that impresses me with how much it achieves in the number of pages that it had, but that's a rarity. And I constantly have to fight myself when I'm assigning my number of stars for a novella, I have to use like "Novella standards" and not judge it against all the awesome full-length books that I've read! I'm a hard to please book snob and I know it. I try to fight that prejudice!
jane - that’s true. it’s all reading anyway.i get you! i don’t read a lot at the same time cause i’m the same. some suck me in and even impact me emotionally, while others are dreadful and boring. it really depends on how they’re written. romance is hard to achieve since they’re so short and there’s hardly room for development. i try judging them in novella standards too and not full length ones or i’d complain all the time about short they are when i know exactly that.
