Ugh who cares if he's "Indian". "An Indian" I should say, like Native Americans go around calling themselves Indians. And how, at 16-17, have you never seen an "Indian"? I understand maybe not meeting a Native American, but to be so naive that upon meeting someone you stare at their skin like oh what is this shade of brown OMG you're an Indian!? Whoa!!"
