I liked the stories at the beginning of chapter one, about the different clubs being denied in public schools but the rest was boring and repetitive. Hopefully the book improves over time because I am not a huge fan of early American politics or enlightenment theory.

Terrible 2nd chapter. The main character James Madison is such a hypocrite. He preached freedom and liberty yet was an active plantation owner. He acknowledged that slaves weren’t just property, but wouldn’t even free his slaves upon his death. What did he need them for after he died anyways?? There was also a ton of constitutional nitty-gritty. Boring! 1/10 😒 side note: author def has a crush on G Washington
