I also think there's one big contradiction running through this book: talking about terms, Mill holds individuals to be meaningless, denotative units, and that only connotation would admit of a definition, but in his theory of syllogism he seems to try to say that syllogism is mere induction from particulars ie. individuals, which were supposed to not admit of definition. It's like they infer from proper names lol

All valid syllogisms are based on a double syllogism based on induction, making every syllogism a regress: nice way to show the problems of syllogistic theory. It's just kind of hidden away there under a confident march of common sense.
