Points for there being enough mystery to hold my attention and keep me reading. Negative points to INFINITY for the frequently incorrect and overuse of the word "that!" Come on, dude! "The," "his," a name? All perfectly valid and less jarring ways to identify something. Seriously, this book doesn't read like a soaring gothic epic. No matter how flowery and obnoxious your language is. >_>

What is wrong with the word "man"? I mean, do you, author, have some strange aversion to using it? Constantly referring to them as "male" is very jarring and also annoying and I wish you would stop.
