Will this book make any sense without having read the first 7?

Don said it does not require any knowledge of the previous books, that it's less about the Coyote universe and more about the implications of a Dyson Sphere that have not been well-explored in other literature. I'm only a little way in, and I think the first few pages are a quick yet understandable summary of the previous 7 books. The universe looks pretty interesting with a rich history.
