For quite some time I’ve found the book of Isaiah difficult to get my mind around. Ligonier Ministries recommends this as one of the top five books to read on Isaiah. This one being more of an overview. So far I can understand why they recommended it. The introduction gives a fantastic historical overview — providing context. The authors writing is very accessible and compelling.

Re Hezekiah’s beautiful prayer: “This was perhaps H’s finest hour. He was not perfect. In fact, the mess he was in was largely of his own making. But in the last analysis, he knew that the LORD reigned, and therefore nothing was impossible or hopeless. The pressure of circumstances had stripped him back to basics.” Prayer!

“Faith is more than a means of justification; it is also a practical approach to the challenges of daily life, just as much for us as it was for those who faced the Assyrian threat. We are not only saved by faith; we live by it.”

If you’ve ever wanted to understand Isaiah this is a very clear summary book, section by section. Highly recommend so far.
