horrified that more vehicle accidents are caused by drowsy driving than by alcohol- or drug-influenced driving. also TIL the term Power Nap came out of a study on sleep-deprived airplane pilots & that 20 minutes won't cut it (40-120 min recommended)

I want their memory-retention studies to compare people who get to sleep & people who get to meditate / be in like a quiet room / look at the clouds for an hour. They keep comparing people who are just awake and doing normal day things (i.e. active, not in quiet/study mode) to people who get to sleep and it doesn't seem like a fair or as interesting a comparison without a less-stimulating wakefulness cohort.
