Currently working close to home (15 min walk) which is great in terms of getting all the sleep I need but rubbish in terms of getting a good 30 mins worth of reading completed on the morning/evening commute.Consequently it's taking me ages to get through this one but, it kind of suits the novel because the characters age a decade or so every chapter so, in a way,
it's kind of appropriate.

Crikey, I wasn't expecting the old guy who was shaping up to be the main character to pop his cloggs as soon as page 42 (not much of a spoiler cos there's still nearly 300 pages to go).Within a couple of pages of Florentino Ariza being introduced I'm dying to know more about him and Fermina from half a century before. If only the daytime world of work and suchlike would stop getting in the way...
