Brandy Branderson my man, please cut this man some slack. He's so depressed and I'm heavily PMSing. I'm crying every 20 pages, it's exhausting. Just give him someone to love and not chop off their head 10 minutes later, it's not that hard!

I knew Kaladin is known as a super depressed hero but my god is he depressed. Depressed leaders are relatable but I'm not sure if this is having the opposite effect on me or what.

I despised the slow world-building for half of the book. But after reading that conversation between Kabsal and Shallan with a full belly and a happy mind, I love that BranSan takes his own sweet time with things. So witty and so natural. Writers rush to get to the point but not this guy. He'll write a good 200 pages before we even know what the hell he's talking about. I'm starting to like that.

I teared up at Kaladin's brilliance with that side-running thing and when he realised the consequences of that. Hardcore survivor/Kelsier vibes. Kelsier and Kaladin better become BFFs somewhere sometime in the Cosmere ok.

Can't believe I am actually nervous to start reading this. Avoided it for two whole months like a wimp. No kidding, my stomach drops when I open this book. A behemoth undertaking, not only because of the 1001 pages but also the thorough world-building and just...information. No Kelsier? No Wax & Wayne? Who am I supposed to get attached to?? But time to put on my big girl reading glasses and get to it.
