The end was well-written, touching, and realistic. I enjoyed it a lot.

I'm not sure why this book has a low overall rating because, clearly, I liked it. And I learned more about WWII from reading Black Radishes. I look forward to reading the sequel sometime next year. 😊

Madame Robert has a clever plan to help Aunt Geraldine and her family. Hopefully it'll work. ✌

Without equality and brotherhood, there is no real liberty? It was true, Gustave thought suddenly. People like Philippe and his grandfather might believe that they could be free while treating others as less than human. But their minds were trapped. Trapped by hatred. Trapped by thinking the way the Nazis told them to think.

I think I know how Gustave and his family are going to leave Saint-Georges. Hopefully their plan/potential plan will work. *fingers crossed*

It would be lovely if Philippe fucked off and left Gustave alone, but I have a feeling that that isn't going to happen. 😞
