First in a series, New Orleans detective finds dead girl which starts him on a quest to find her killers, leads to local organizations that have well connected crooks. The author is very lyrical, trying to reflect beauty or ugliness onto situations, lots of slang, metaphors. I often had difficulty keeping track of the plot because of it. Not my cup of tea.
