Hoolia I had never heard of Blood Over Bright Haven but now it’s on my list! My undeniable favorite of the year was Our Share Of Night by Mariana Enriquez, which I think might be a bit of an acquired taste, but blew me away so much I re-read it right away.

Kara Post-Traumatic was one of my favorites as well. Thanks for the reviews!

message 3: by Celina (new)

Celina I loved Post-Traumatic too! All the themes you mention are important but ultimately what kept me reading was just the incredibly sharp writing.

Caroline Definitely agree that The Rachel Incident was a better version of a Sally Rooney novel.

Sandra Always look forward to reading your yearly top 10 reviews! Thank you!

So glad you also loved Post-Traumatic! Yes I agree, the writing was incredibly sharp. Perhaps the sharpest I read all year and one of the sharpest I've read in my lifetime for sure.

Omg so appreciate our bookish solidarity and convergences always! Yes loved our chat about Post-Traumatic and so glad you watched Fleabag too. We stan mental health representation that's humorous and real!

Haha I'm no expert, I just read as my primary hobby (e.g., everyday to decompress, when I'm riding on public transport, before I go to bed at night). So it's a firmly established habit :)

Charlie yes! good point, I used to read on public transport before smart phones, I suppose for me, it is switching out the phone for reading.

✿ April ✿ Congrats on reading so many books, I really liked reading your top 10 reviews! Kinda random but I joined Goodreads for the first time last year and you were the first friend I made on this app, so thank you. I love seeing your reviews and updates because it’s motivational and inspiring for me to read more! :D

Yes! Once you get into the habit it becomes easier. Though I'd say I think it depends on the public transport itself - I could read on both Boston and Philly public transport but in DC it was harder for me to read because I'd get motion sickness.

Awww thanks April glad they were enjoyable to read! That's sweet of you to let me know, I'm glad that my reviews and updates can be motivational or helpful in some way. :)
