I risked taking this to a Christmas Eve family breakfast because I wanted to finish it before the end of the year (not happening) and it did not go unnoticed. Got one “whose book is THIS?” and another, “is it like the Kama sutra?” I simply explained it was not a manual, just a long anthropologists meet-cute story (so far.)

Gross lack of forethought on display here, coming into this situation with the book jacket on. I’ve actually been known to put book jackets of books I’m not reading on paperbacks I’m reading to avoid the uncomfortable situation of having to concisely explain a book that has a title or cover art that could be viewed as remotely provocative.

The book jacket was removed, but, yes major missed opportunity in not using a decoy cover. I’m picturing you using the same safety cover every time and your family just thinks you really love The Cider House Rules.
