Meann is 2% done

The prose really bothers me, at least here in the beginning. You can't have regular sentences; most just run on and on with colons and semi-colons preceding repetitive similes. But I will soldier on!

"“I owe you that: apology for inflicting that wound,” Philippe said. “But nothing else. Can we leave it at that?” He sat on the bed; which wasn’t much, but was the farthest he could get from her." I can...*hear* the way the colons and semi-colons are placed. Is this really how the characters should talk? But even the narrative sentences are structured this way. :S

The structure is annoying me when I read it. I think I'll shift to listening to the audio book from here on out even though sometimes the narrator slurs words.

There are 2 colons within this one sentence. I didn't even know that was...acceptable? (great, now I'm beginning to have a colon fixation)

2% in and already, I've seen too many colons and semi-colons than I've ever seen in a while. It's really noticeable.
