I loved “Rabit, Run,” Updike’s predecessor to this novel. I am choosing to give up on this novel because it feels as though nothing has changed in Rabit’s character, even though 15 years have taken place between these two novels.

I didn't know anything beforehand, as it was Rabbit, Run that prompted me to read this novel. I feel comfortable quitting, Rabbit Redux seems as though Updike set out to produce new Rabbit novels without undergoing new creative thought.

I am interested in reading other Updike, but the entire Rabbit series is a bit strange given the release years: Rabbit, Run from 1960; Rabbit Redux 1971, Rabbit is Rich 1981; Rabbit at Rest 1990; Rabbit Remembered 2001.
