Tell me you're copying Lily Mayne without telling me you're copying Lily Mayne. Every single thing thus far has been lifted from the Monstrous series: tears in the earth, opening another dimension; chaos and destruction; monsters of all kinds; military taking over; military-run city-states; people forced out of their homes; orphaned children. This is plagiarism! You don't need to copy words to steal ideas.

Oh no!!! Ouch. I love Lily Mayne's books. Authors can have similar ideas, but that does sound suspicious.
Authors can have similar ideas, but I've been reading in this genre for ten years and before Monstrous I'd never read another MM (or MF) romance featuring monsters. Vampires? Yes. Shifers? Plenty. Aliens? Sure.But not monsters.
And the similarities are too obvious. I mean, a human, monster, and their monster pet wandering the wastes and scavenging for food and supplies in abandoned houses and stores?
It's the same story with different characters and a slightly changed plot. The writing is nothing alike (Mayne's is far superior), but the ideas are all there.
Even the name/title, Soren, is copying a recent book about a vampire.
Did the author think no one would notice?
Honestly it's only going to get more similar. I haven't thought about this being plagiarism, but maybe it is? Not sure what to think honestly.
