I am enjoying how much of an antagonist Captain Beatty has become. His sneering demeanour reminds me of the G-Man from the Half Life series, or better yet, Agent Smith from The Matrix franchise, if I can make such comparisons. To continue with the Matrix references, that stowaway book has seemed to become a redpill of sorts for Guy, as he slowly descends down the rabbit hole, questioning the world around him.

Part Three: Burning Bright
When I read the passage regarding the pedestrian who was sacrificially slaughtered in lieu of Montag (p. 148), I finally felt something deep & powerful.
Granger’s explanation of how every man in his network is a “book” in himself (p. 151) is also profound.
This chapter is my favourite in the book.
The ending is wonderful in its symbolism. Granger & his men as the symbolic Phoenix.

Part Two: The Sieve & the Sand
I like the character development Guy receives in this chapter. As he grows disillusioned with the false reality around him, he lashes out. I especially enjoy his verbal attack on Mrs. Bowles. The visceral tone brings the scene to life.
Dr. Faber is another character I enjoy. I am picturing a cross between Freud & Einstein. A little old man, with whiskers, glasses & a German accent.

I find the character of Captain Beatty fascinating. If I may compare and contrast him to The Joker, specifically the version found in The Dark Knight; Beatty is an agent of order whereas The Joker is an agent of chaos.
Beatty’s confident pragmatism pairs well with Guy’s weakening resolve. Not to lighten the subject, however, it is almost comedic how Guy is crying over books in his bed & ventilation system.

My immediate thoughts:
Although a mainstay in many a curricula, I never had the opportunity to read Fahrenheit during my school years.
The writing is easy to read, however, not as eloquent as I would like it to be.
I find Clarisse to be a bit of a Mary Sue character, or better yet, a Manic Pixie Dream Girl type.
Where I am starting to enjoy the story is when Guy is participating in his firefighting duties.
