I don't get why the random thow in of the names from LOTR. Out of all the world of made up names the sward is called Ekthalion. I guess it could be a LOTR tribute, but to me it reads like a cheap knock off.

My more serious problem is I remember NOTHING from the first part so I'm missing out on a potentially good book.
