“That's an awful thing to say but this disaffection of families is built into the way we school - shutting parents out of the important rooms of their own kids' lives.”

Very good! Don’t love how casually he uses biblical words but outside of that definitely is scary how true what’s he saying is and how “schooling” has even affected me. Crazy the facts abt comparing America’s education to Japan, Sweden, and Hong Kong too! Can’t wait to review if I finish this! if it’s Gods will.

“In between the myths of schooling and the myths of television…replaces family magic with magical products and magical services that pretend to do magical things that they cannot. Love is often measured by how many of these things a family can buy. Is it any wonder that a lot of my kids dislike their families who can't buy them much?”

Interesting take on American schooling in relation to why it’s not giving students the skills they need and why public school costs so much from taxpayers compared to other forms of education.
