One important part was when Thomas lunged at Aris and punched him in the stomach. Teresa and Aris were forcing Thomas to go through the door with knives and spears; however Thomas was resisting. In the text it said, "He jumped toward the other boy and swung his left arm in an arc to smack the knife out of his hand" (295). This shows that Thomas did whatever he could to not go through the odd silver room.

One important part was when Brenda exposed the truth about WICKED killing her dad. Thomas was talking about his traumatic encounter with the crank when Brenda told him out of nowhere. In the text it said, "Being alone would suck even worse... they killed my dad" (200). This proves that Thomas talking about his trauma with the crank brought up Brenda's secret trauma with her dad.

One important part was when the roof crashed to the ground. Thomas and the gladers were running crumbling building sounds when Brenda tugged on his shirt deeper underground. In the text it said, "... an entire section of the rook came crashing down onto the floor in front of him" (171). This shows that something may have caused this rupture in the ceiling.

One important part was when the men hovering above questioned if the gladers would save them all. The men were in green suits and funny glasses watching from above questioning if Thomas would die or live to save them. In the text it said, "'He might die' 'Or worse. He might live'...'Or he and the others might save us, Save us all'"(42). This shows that people may be watching the gladers every step of the way.

One confusing part was when an unusual man burst into their room. The man had bloodshot eyes, bloody hands, and many scars all over his body while coming into the room unannounced. Also, the man yelled calling himself a crank. In the text it says, "A man stood on the other side, gripping the bars with bloody hands" (5). This shows that whoever this man is may have something to do with Thomas's unease with Theresa.
