Idk I'm enjoying it. But I'm struggling with how Kuang treats the politics and revolution with a lot of realism and gravitas, vs the world in which magic is not only indispensable, but has had very little affect on the course of human history. I don't think it strikes the balance of suspension of disbelief well.

Minor gripe but I'm having so much trouble with the asterisks tbh 😭 I can't easily distinguish them from the single quotation marks (the book only USES single quotation marks) so I always have to hunt for them maybe it's the font maybe it's my eyes but it's genuinely frustrating the hell out of me

it’s been a while since i read this but i’m pretty sure i remember it being pretty slow for a while but definitely picks up later!!! there’s a point (if i remember rightly about half way) where things realllyyyyy ramp up!!
