Okay, so not AS into this one as the first one. As in, this one I don't feel a pull towards whenever I put it down. Still interesting. Getting a bit more background for the characters and closing in on some clues for the grander mysteries, so that's nice. Also we've established that the author is cool about queer people, so that's also nice.

I don't know why I find it so much harder to focus on this sequel than the first book. I like the themes. I like the characters. The mysteries are interesting. Yet I find myself zoning out all the time. Not sure if the writing is less compelling or if I'm just more tired, this time around.

Bit too much heterosexual body-lusting for my taste, in this second book. Hope it doesn't become the main focus of the series, as it is 7 volumes long... Can we go back to the interesting magical mysteries of the world now, please?
