This author is determined not to allow the reader to like her characters. Damn. End of chapter 9. I don't know why I'm giving it this much of a chance. Maybe it's morbid curiosity about just how bad the writing can get while still managing to get published.

I may not be able to finish this one. So many annoying tropes and logical inconsistencies, and I haven't even finished the first chapter. Ugh.

I don't know why I keep reading this. It's like a train wreck. The primary protagonists are idiots, the author couldn't care less about getting colloquial phrases right, and they keep resorting to cheap tricks attempting to taint the reader with knowledge that a protagonist has but wants to wait to reveal. How in the world could anyone call this a good book? I spend most of my time fuming about how stupid these people are.
