Why are we psychoanalysing why an unwell 81 year old man fainted? And why aren’t we analysing when he admitted the feelings he felt when he first met his wife, were the same he had for his friend but also arch-rival psychoanalyst guy. I don’t think I’m reading this right

I don’t think I get this book. It might help to have some prior knowledge on the topics and the referenced works?
It’s not like you can tackle much in 80 pages but so far the explanations felt shallow and generalised. Maybe if I were a straight privileged white man from the 70’s I could relate more??
