I can’t lie, it’s slow, it has these really interesting moments but then there are whole stretches that feel long and drawn out. I don’t think that’s necessary a knock on the author; I tend to gravitate towards tight, specific storytelling. Say what you want to say in as few words as possible. Waters’s approach is far more like why use one word when 14 will do.
