I've just read the first chapter and am blown away. It feels like you're being told a secret, hidden history. The writing is ludicrously engaging. I really hope it continues in this vein.

Really taking my time with this one. It feels more like a historical document than a novel and I'm loving it. So far its been similar to a series of vignettes and, in one of the last ones I've read, told one of the most tragic tales I've ever read, I'm referring to the life and fate of Alice and Mary for those of you who have read this.
