Complete transparency here, I skipped from the end of chapter 1 to chapter 8 where the author begins to tell about the imminent decline of the railroad system in the US. While I recognize the importance of the history for context, I am more concerned with the decline in the the second half of the 19th century and exploring the parallels between our attitudes then and now.
