Hmmm, this is the 3rd book I read this year, back to back actually??, where I notice a parent is obsessed with their deceased (or just gone) partner so much that they neglect their children, two of the three choosing death over living with their child... Is this a bookish thing? Or is it like that irl? It feels very...weird to read
