Why. It was so close to being a story about memory which I could recommend and refer to - about how we create memory and try to justify them to ourselves. And war memory. Why did he have to include weird sexual bits about his mother? I think ‘translated by Jay Rubin’ is quickly becoming a big red flag for me 🚩
