I’m on part 2, v. and it feels victim-blamey when the author states the most likely people to join a cult are those who agree with the ideology in some way and suggests that a person cannot be brow-beat into a way of thinking or given false memories… what about false confessions as evidence that people can be pressured to say the opposite of what they know and believe?
