As a matter of fact, the passage tombs of the Boyne River were not active from the second half of the third millennium BC onwards, so Newgrange and the rest of the monuments in this Irish "Royal Valley of the Kings" would serve as temporary royal tombs only for the kings sacrificed at Avebury.
It's scary, but alot of this makes sense. Accurate? Not sure yet...

This hypothesis would provide an explanation for the exceptionally big pairs of rocks that were erected at the four entrances of the henge-the Swindon Stone, extant at the north entrance being another good example-since they would represent pairs of stars particularly bright at the four quarters of the Milky Way.

The function of this huge megalithic complex remains a mystery, although archaeologists speculate that it could have been the venue for the performance of a special ceremony, probably related to fertility and/or death-terms systematically used whenever the purpose is unknown.
