I’m still slogging through this, but what a slog. Losing faith it can redeem itself. Treatment of the (very few) female characters, racism for the Chinese character, big bad guy is fat and gay, so rigidly hierarchical, and to top it off, the names! Duncan Idaho? I think of Johnny Utah from Point Break every time.

Yeah I felt the same. That book was a rough read, and I didn’t feel the need to read any more in the series. The first half was better than the second half if I remember correctly. Good luck!
