First Impression: The first novel I picked up to read in 2024. It's a classic so I guess many have already read it. It's nice to see a nice cast of characters assemble around the protagonist, "Mad" Ista from The Curse of Chalion, and the major event is already underway. The journey promises to be eventful both in the physical and the spirit world.

Halfway through, and Bujold has done a master shuffling of characters while keeping the protagonist in focus. I've come to realize that I'm not for multi-pov novels. Anyway Cattilara is a lot of fun to read!
