In this chapter, the doctors at John Hopkins have discovered Lacks’ immortal cells, and intend to sell them, without her permission. Robbed her right to consent body due to patriarchy.

The combination of history, science and storytelling throughout this book is incredible. So far, Skloot has delved into the history of the Lackses’ family and the hidden history about her HeLa cells which have fundamentally changed history, and have revealed a racially significant pain that has been experienced by black women and men.
