I also like all the moments when King is like "wait I'm writing my Moby-Dick after all!" and adds all these cool but slightly bizzare bits like "It conjured up an image of fate, not blind at all but equipped with sentient 20/20 vision and intent on grinding helpless mortals between the great millstones of the universe to make some unknown bread" here and there but I'm kinda glad he haven't written all of it like that

so they knew they would have a night with a vampire and had the whole fucking day to prepare but haven't tied her up or got holy water or anything except two crosses from pawn shop while a girl and a boy goes up to kill Dracula and his servant on their own separately without telling anyone and the girl is even less prepared. honestly these people no wonder nobody left in the prologue.

the buildup is expectedly slow and I have trouble remembering all half a million characters so far (there has been probably less than twenty but still) and I'm just at the point where action started to pick up. I can already tell the book would be a bit bloated but that's just regular King for ya as we know and love. some moments seem a bit formulaic and underdeveloped but whatever the spine of the story works.
