So far so good, at least solidly good.
Some points feel to me unclear, for instance the treaty of 1840 was brought up prematurely as the author was still on the previous decade and brought up the eventuall effects of the 1930s for the treaty which yes is good but I didnt know what the hell it was reading it.

I am from sweden and moved to NZ wanting to learn, the book imo needs more thought to those type of readers

The beginnings felt a bit static in this book, but once I got to WW1 the author really went out of their reporting style writing into a more deep and personal tone for the killed and scarred Kiwis that died.
