"My Lady of Lilies." He swept her a low bow. "Is that your only name?" "My true name is impossible for the men of the West to speak. I would not shame you, Sir Ranulf, by asking you to attempt it." Nice save! (remember, she's pretending to be a Chinese princess, when really she's an English commoner)

I can't stand when characters say they live each other but neither trusts the other

The impact of the pestilence/plague on the people, especially children is heartbreaking.

she's pretending to be a Chinese princess to so no one questions her authenticity-no one would know any better.

Catherine How do you pretend to be a Chinese princess when you're really English? Was one of her parents Asian?

Laura nope, she has mixed her cultures up. She wears a veil over her hair and mouth (harem-style is how I picture it), and her costumes are all just really haremy-looking too, so it's kind of funny that she's mixing it up, but the tone isn't light so the humor aspect isn't being used as much as it could be.

But she's basically faking it to the best of her abilities, and since it's early 1400s not too many of the knights have ever seen an Asian person. (or at least that's what she's hoping)

Catherine Huh. Alrighty then.

Laura I'm still on the fence about it-whether this plot device will work, or fall flat.
