It's ridiculous how many times Dante or someone else just popps up randomly out of nowhere at the most random but equally convenient times. It feels like no one has anything else to do besides waiting for their next random appearance out of nowhere. They probably read the future in regards to where she'll be and when and then go there and wait in the shadows for their cue. Everything happening is just o so convenient

These Caraval books start out so promising. They build up till a certain mark and then after just spiral into utter disappointment.

Okay everything I've said before, only the secret and mystery reveals are bad. Like really dissapointing and eye rolling. Also, the romances are so unbelievable and awkwardly written. I don't root for them because I don't see real build-up. They're just there and they happen without a cause. I'm very happy, though, that the pacing is really good. I'm flying through, I just expect more and then little is delivered.

I'm not sure but I think I enjoy this more than the first book. I must say Garber has a talent in writing secrets and mysteries. Like I'm genuinely interested and intrigued and hooked by everything going on. And I don't know how she did it but she managed to get me to like and root for Tella. I really REALLY disliked her in the first book. I think I've come to like this series despite the occultish business going on.
