One part of the book that was joyful was when Melody was the only person who got the practice test perfect. "I have never had a student make a perfect score on the practice test." (190). This is a happy part because although Melody has a lot going on, she still is very intelligent and gifted.

One part of the book that made me feel bad for Melody is when she starts wishing that she could draw just like the other kids do. "I wish I could use crayons. I'd draw a rose...all I can manage are squiggly lines" (115). This is a part of the book that made me feel bad for Melody.

One sad part in the book was when Melody did feel welcomed in her new class. Melody started the first day of school feeling excited about school, but when she got into the class, 2 girls Claire and Molly were making unfunny jokes about disabilities. ""Look at me! I'm a !"" said Molly (94). This shows that this part of the book was really depressing and no one should make fun of people with disabilities.

One par that was sad was when Melody says how shes mad she can't do anything. Melody is very smart, but can't talk. Melody has a very good memory but she can't use any of it given the fact she can't speak or move and she gets mad because of that. "Since I never had trouble thinking or remembering, it actually sort of surprised me that I couldn't do stuff. It made me angry." (9). This was a depressing part of the book
