this is one of the books I think everyone should read, and one I could (and hope to) read yearly. I also think it's a perfect book: immaculate prose, elegant (dare I say beautiful) argument, exactly the right length. relatedly, the world needs more short, small books - not everything needs 16 chapters when it could have been 3 blog posts.

My life is a series of me picking up MORE books from the library when I'm already in the middle of several, but then feeling justified because the new books are so good. And not only is this book good, it has such a pretty cover and is a lovely, little volume. 🤍
