I’m not sure I understand why the author used such a jump in time? The previous storyline felt prematurely cut and this new character is overly loquacious.

I had to double-check what year this was published: 1993. It reads like classic Brontë so the pacing is a little slower than contemporary fiction. I want more of the apparition- who is he and what does he want?
