I’m having a hard time with this book. The narrative switching is rough, and the clear, casually-referenced trauma from the MC - not to mention the fact that future trauma is foreshadowed. There seem to be three different, complicated stories being told at the same time - it’s hard to shift mental gears from violin talent competition to a spaceship operating a donut shop to an abused trans kid running away.
